The joy of adulthood

I think the best sentence of my adulthood is “Yeah, I am not going to do that!” Last months the coffee was keeping me alive. Switching between a full-time job and full-time mother, from trying to be a good friend (failing big time most of the times lately) to a little bit of paint here, a little laminate there, sucked all my time. RIP photography course, piano lessons and holiday plans. I admit I am one of the worst planners ever. I make shopping lists and I get to the grocery store without the damn lists, I download budget apps and still I get the “oh shit I forgot to pay the bloody speed fine”. By the way, about speed fines, since I moved to a different town, I became the queen of speed. I got in a couple of days as many speed fines as three good expensive pair of shoes! Yeap, I have to slow it down.

On the other hand, I realized that from Wednesday till Friday it feels like forever, but Sunday is always so annoying on Friday’s back. But hey, this weekend I am going to sleep so late that I will wake up with puffy eyes, eat for dinner and go back to sleep. Oh, wait, daughter has a better social life than mine, which makes me her driver! There goes my sleeping late plan. You see, the joy of adulthood!

Starting this brand new year, I have decided to plan my time better. Don’t laugh! I will. It is still January, I have plenty of time to put it into practice. I have already started to run and drink wine (again). The next step is to not forget to pay my speed fines and perhaps to try not to get new ones. I plan to fall asleep after more than two pages of my book (what has happened to those reading marathon nights till 3 a.m.?) and to quit eating just a cracker instead of breakfast. Wait, that means I have to wake up earlier! I guess … you know what, crackers are just fine!

It’s a shame there are no tutorials about how to handle adulthood. Thank God there are coffee and wine! Although, spilling your wine in adulthood became the equivalent of dropping your ice-cream in your childhood.  The cherry on top is that now, you start realizing that the Pythagorean theorem or Fermat’s theorem on sums of two squares will probably not come up again, despite all that time you spend in school learning it 😊

Adulthood was never better, folks!
